My love and professional dream is to enhance individual therapy with group practice. This is instant training of new skills. And it is much cheaper than individual therapy. Many behavioral features simply do not arise in the situation of individual sessions, so for some cases group therapy is more effective.
Children can practice communicating and regulating their behavior instantly in a group. We analyze difficult situations, and immediately practice behaving in a new way.
The sessions look like a play dates. We play different games, analyze difficult situations that arise, get acquainted with the theory of effective communication, regulation of emotions, and try to behave differently on the spot.
The group is led by two clinicians so that each child receives the necessary individual attention, can work at a comfortable speed and with the necessary support.
After some classes, the children receive homework - the level is not difficult, parental help is usually not required.
Do you have friends? Is there good contact with the teacher? Does the child share impressions with you? Can he or she lose? Stand up for himself or herself? Play in a large company and do projects in a small one?We teach all this to children in the "circle" - group therapy for children in grades 2-4 or 5-8. In person, in a cozy office in Waterloo.
10 classes on Thursdays + a session on the results with parents as a gift
Attention: classes are held in English, as we train communication skills at school and in other social situations - it is important to be as close to reality as possible and immediately learn suitable phrases in the appropriate language.
